| Well, it's not a true native, but it's a very common plant in any area and is well known for its medicinal properties. These showy flowers appear in mid to late summer on stiff stems which grow up to 4-5 feet. It is a hardy plant and blooms for long periods. Purple Coneflower is named for it's cone or dome-shaped seeding body. Its beautiful pink-purple petal is edible, making it an excellent salad garnish.
